This retreat house in the Ovens
valley is designed from two old
tobacco kilns. A linear strip of
new construction links the kilns,
creating a range of outdoor
and indoor spaces from which
to experience the dramatic
valley and mountain views that
the site offers.

The simple palette of the new
areas provides a counterpoint
to the rich, textured materials
of the existing kilns.
