The Howqua Campus is a
residential campus for year
nine girls sited on a bushland
property bounded by State
Forest.

The project included the
masterplanning and design of

student and staff
accommodation, teaching and
recreation spaces as well as
all site infrastructure and
services.

Within the campus, students
are exposed to an educational
philosophy which aims to
integrate respect for the
environment with the personal

development of the child.

Small weathered timber
buildings cluster around a
central common which acts as
an open air gathering space
and imbues the campus with
a rural sense of place.

Simple, raw materials, wood
fired heating, localised water
collection and natural cooling

systems express a simpler
way of living that challenges
the complexities of contemporary urban life.
